Before working with DPP, you need to have created your products and added the data you want to display in the DPP.

Fill in data for DPP

Before working with the Digital Product Passport, it’s important to have your product data in order.

Several elements in the Digital Product Passport are drawn from the data linked to the product — for example, the description, product image, material overview, as well as attributes such as weight, dimensions, or location.

See this guide for instructions on importing data and creating attributes.

Add and configure content

When setting up the Digital Product Passport, it can be configured for the specific product under the product’s “Mobile Label” tab.

Note – If you want to use the same DPP setup/design for multiple products, it’s recommended to configure a template. See the section Creating Templates for more information.

  1. Open DPP in a new tab – here you can see how it looks.
(It’s recommended to work with two screens when configuring your DPP — one screen for the configurator and one for the open DPP view, so you can see how the changes appear. Remember to refresh the DPP window after making changes to view the updates.)

  2. Add modules/sections for the data you want to display.

  3. Add additional content such as images, videos, contact information, or custom fields.

    1. Some files can be added directly in the content section of the DPP using open URL links to videos or images, for example.

    2. Other files without a direct link must be uploaded under the product’s “Asset” tab and can then be added as files in the DPP.

  4. A “Collapsible section” in the DPP is a section that can be expanded or collapsed. If you add a collapsible section, you can then add other modules under it.

  • When using the “Material” section, you can import your BoM (Bill of Materials) list for the product.
If you want to divide your BoM list into categories — for example, “Wood,” “Textile,” “Metal,” etc. — follow these steps:

  1. Go to the “Categories” document (located just above “Parts”).

  2. From here, you can add new categories using the button in the upper right corner.

  3. Once you’ve created a category, you can add a relation to the components (“Parts”) that belong under that category. Do this from the category you've created, at the bottom with the button "Add Document Relation".

  4. Then, under each individual component (in the “Parts” document), you can add a relevant image of either the material or the component itself.
This is done under the “Asset” tab for each component.
Remember to mark the image as default by clicking the star icon.

All content setup in the DPP is done using drag and drop.

Design and visual configuration

  • You can change the order of sections by dragging them up or down.

  • When no section is selected, you can change the background color of the Digital Product Passport in the right-hand panel.

  • Under “General Information” — the top box on the right side of the DPP — you can configure:

    -The version of the DPP
-The URL link to the DPP
-The QR code and its color

    • Here, you can also view statistics showing how many times the product passport has been opened and when it was last accessed.

    • You can also open the Digital Product Passport in a new tab via the small blue diagonal arrow next to the URL link.

  • “Advanced Visual Settings” – Click the gear icon for each section.

    • Here, you can configure:
-The border and title of the section (these can be shown or hidden).
-The icon picker (to change, remove, or configure the icon for the section).

    • Further under “Advanced Settings,” you can configure:
-Font type, size, alignment, and color (for both text and background).
-Padding and margin (to adjust the spacing or position of elements).

Creating Templates

  • When you have designed your DPP for a product category and want to apply the same DPP configuration to multiple products, you can save your DPP setup as a template and apply this template to other products.

    • This can be done from the product overview, where you can select the products you wish to bulk update. Once selected, the green “Action” button will appear in the product overview. From there, choose “Attach mobile label” and select the template you want to apply to the products.

    • The template will then pull data from the attributes included in the template.

      • If a product does not contain data for all attributes included in the DPP sections of the template, those sections will be hidden in the Digital Product Passport. Only sections containing content will be visible when the passport is opened.

  • You can find your templates on the platform’s front page under “Applications”, and then under “Digital Product Passport.”

    • From there, you can also edit or delete your templates.
-However, we strongly recommend working with your template directly from a product, so you can simultaneously see how your changes and design appear — by keeping the DPP open in another tab.

If you experience issues with the DPP configuration, we recommend noting down the specific challenges you encounter. We’ll be happy to arrange a video meeting to review these points — so you can create a unique Digital Product Passport that accurately reflects your company, values, and identity.
